Leaf Pickup Continues

November 15 - December 20

Leaf collection begins as leaves fall in October/November and continues usually through the first heavy snowfall around the end of December. Rake leaves to the edge of the street, but not into the street.  As part of the City’s Storm Water Management Plan, the City asks residents to please keep leaves out of the water and sewer drains to avoid blockages that cause flooding.  Do not bag the leaves; do not include grass clippings or branches.  Do not pile leaves in the street; doing so can cause safety hazards by hindering emergency vehicles or causing vehicles to veer into oncoming traffic.  Cars parked over leaf piles may cause fires and also make it difficult for collection. Rain and snow, along with cold weather, may cause leaves to freeze to the pavement and make it difficult to keep the streets open to traffic.  Leaves that are placed in long, narrow piles near the edge of the road or curb, without grass and sticks, make collection easier and faster.  Please remember to park cars away from leaf piles.
