WEEKLY REFUSE COLLECTION

Wednesday is the regular collection day for the City of Rossford.

Rossford residents can set out up to three (3) containers per week.  Each container should not exceed 35 gallons and 50 pounds in weight.  If you need to set out more than the three-container limit, you may purchase additional 30-gallon orange bags at the City Municipal Building for $2.00 per bag.

Additional Information:

• Place refuse at the curb the night before your scheduled pick-up, or no later than
   7:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
   
• One bulk item is allowed each week.  Bulk items include household items such as a couch, stove, box  spring/mattress, chair, etc.  Carpeting must be cut into rolls under 4 feet in length, and under 50 pounds per roll, and must be tied or taped.  The maximum number of rolls allowed per week is 6 rolls. White goods such as refrigerators, freezers, dehumidifiers, air conditioners, etc., are picked up once a month on the first Wednesday and must be scheduled 48 hours in advance by calling 1-800-343-6047.
   
• Don’t overfill your containers.
   
• No yard waste is allowed in regular refuse containers.
   
• Concrete, asphalt, construction materials, etc. can never be collected with refuse.

Optional Refuse Cart Container Program
Rossford residents have the option to rent a Waste Management 96-gallon refuse cart for $3.00 per month.  This cart replaces the three containers allowed with the regular program.  It comes with wheels and an attached lid.  Waste Management will bill residents for the carts every 6 months.  Additional carts are available for $4.50 per month.  Order by calling 1-800-343-6047.

Carry-out Service
Waste Management will provide carry-out service for any qualifying resident.  This service is designed only to assist those residents that, due to a short-term injury or long-term disability, cannot carry refuse to the curb on collection day.

To receive this service, the resident must comply with the following guidelines:

• Resident must provide documentation (e.g., a doctor’s note or other medical form indicating restrictions) to the City of Rossford’s administrative office.  If you currently have this service, you do not have to re-register with the City
    .

WEEKLY RECYCLING

All Rossford residents are provided WEEKLY curbside recycling.  Each week, place your recyclables out with your refuse in a designated recycling bin.  Recycling bins are available at the City of Rossford Municipal Building, 133 Osborn Street.

The list of items that can now be recycled includes:

• Aluminum cans
• Cardboard – boxes must be broken down and placed in or next to bin
• Catalogs, magazines and phone books
• Chipboard (cereal boxes, shoe boxes, etc.)
• Glass bottles and jars
• Newspapers and junk mail
• Plastic bottles and jugs
• Tin and steel cans

If you are not sure if an item goes in this bin, put it with your refuse or call the Waste Management Customer Service Center at 1-800-343-6047.

YARD WASTE COLLECTION

Waste Management has a new yard waste collection program effective April 1st through November 30th for the City of Rossford.  This new program utilizes a 96-gallon cart for yard waste materials.  The yard waste cart has a brown lid to distinguish it from the refuse cart. Yard waste bags will no longer be used. 

If you want yard waste collection, you must establish service by contacting Waste Management at 1-800-343-6047 and choose from one of the following options:

OPTION 1:  Monthly Subscription Program

• Cart will be picked up every Wednesday.
• Rate is $9.50/month (8-month program).
• Waste Management will bill resident monthly.
• Savings Opportunity: Resident pays one charge of $64.00 if service is established before 4-7-10. ($8.00/month x 8 months = $64.00)

OPTION 2:  Pay-As-You-Go Program

• Resident must call and request pick-up @ 1-800-343-6047. Cart will be picked up on Wednesdays with 48 hours notice.
• Cost is $5.50 per pick-up.
• Waste Management will bill resident directly.
• Savings Opportunity:  If paid at the time of call with a credit card (VISA or MC), cost is $4.50/pick-up.

Acceptable Materials:

• Grass
• Leaves
• Garden Waste
• Brush/Branches/Tree Limbs

Tree limbs will be collected if they are bundled and tied in 4-foot lengths, are no more than 2 feet in diameter, and weigh no more than 40 pounds.  Bundles can be placed in or next to the cart.  If placed next to the cart, only 4 bundles will be accepted per pick-up.  No plastic bags will be allowed in the cart.

Spring and Fall brush and branch pick-up, as well as leaf pick-up, will be scheduled each year.  Look for dates in the Rossford Record and on the Rossford Community Sign Board in front of the Municipal Building. 

HOLIDAY SCHEDULE

Waste Management will not perform collection service on the following holidays:

During the weeks these holidays occur, collection normally performed on or directly following the holiday will be delayed one day.  Regular collection will occur on all other holidays not listed.

Christmas trees will be picked up as part of the normal collection service at no additional charge.  You may set your tree out at the curb on your collection day the week following Christmas through the second week in January.  Remove all ornaments and lights, cut the tree in 6-foot lengths, and place the pieces next to your bin or bag at the curb.
