Leaf collection begins in mid-October and continues until the first snowfall. Rake leaves to the edge of the street, but not into the street. As part of the City’s Storm Water Management Plan, the City asks residents to please keep leaves out of the water and sewer drains to avoid blockages that cause flooding. Do not include grass clippings. Do not pile leaves in the street. Piling leaves in the street may cause safety hazards by hindering emergency vehicles or causing vehicles to veer into oncoming traffic. Cars parked over leaf piles may cause fires and also make it difficult for collection. Rain and snow, along with cold weather, may cause leaves to freeze to the pavement and make it difficult to keep the streets open to traffic. Leaves that are placed in long, narrow piles, without grass and sticks, make collection easier. Please remember to park cars away from leaf piles.
